Pet and People Friendly

I made a house call at the home of a rather eccentric older lady who had a couple of dogs and a couple of cats. The cats were, of course, allowed to roam freely around the home while the friendlier, fun-loving dogs were in jail behind a child barrier in the kitchen doorway.

The cats were wandering all around where I was working on the computer, which doesn’t bother me unless they jump on the keyboard while I am flashing the bios or something. I don’t mind cats and try to make friends with them when at customers’ homes.

These cats were harmless and I was kind of surprised how the lady continued to keep them away from the desk and the computer. Usually I find that cat owners have discovered that no matter what they do, the cats will do whatever they want to do anyway.

So after the work was done, we retired to the living room (which I had not seen yet as the room for the computer was just off in a den from the entrance area). I was quite shocked to see aluminum foil covering every piece of furniture in the living room.

Well, wondering what kind of conspiracy theorist this kindly, old lady was, I had to ask “why is there foil on your furniture?” To which she replied “it is the only thing that will keep the cats off the furniture”.

I said, “I believe it will keep people off the furniture too”, on the inside... I actually said “Oh, that’s a good tip”. Whatever?!?!
